Program
Private Pilot Licence (PPL) training in the GTA
The Private Pilot Licence is the standard licence for flying single-engine aircraft in Canada. It lets you carry passengers, fly cross-country, and operate day VFR anywhere in the country. GTA Flight Academy is opening at Stouffville Aerodrome in March 2027 — built around one-on-one instruction for students across York Region.
What's required
- Minimum 45 hours of flight time (Transport Canada minimum)
- Category 3 (or Category 1) medical certificate
- 40 hours of ground school
- Transport Canada PPAER written exam (60% pass, 70% per section)
- Flight test with a Transport Canada examiner
How we teach
One student, one instructor, one aircraft per booking. No shared scheduling, no rotating instructors mid-syllabus. Ground briefings before every flight, structured debriefs after — the way it should be done.
Other programs
- Recreational Pilot Permit (RPP) — the fastest path to flying legally.
- Night Rating — add night flying to your PPL.
